Auxerre to Agen

Another recumbent bike epic across France.  There seems to be a theme developing, accidentally, but based on European Bike Express' collection points; the last one was B to B (Beaune to Barcelona), this one is A to A.

Having gone down the east of France and over the Massif Central last year this year I thought I'd explore the westerly area a little more.  So, this trip went from Auxerre, followed the Canal du Nivernais to Decize, went west towards Chateauroux and Le Blanc then Poiter, followed La Vienne river skirting Angouleme, Limoge and Perigeux to get to La Reole, finally following the Canal Entre Deux Mers to Toulouse and a bit beyond before returning to Agen for the coach journey home.

About 1,500km in all.

Maize & Sunflowers

This just looked so pretty, feather-topped maize in the foreground with sunflowers seen through birch trees and a stone built, red tiled, house on the hill.

The Dordogne, Aquitaine

I'm not really sure if this was yet the Dordogne but I think it is.  It was quite varied as a landscape, I'd go through areas like this with big views and large fields of wheat, then through large wooded areas, hilly, with small villages.

Small country lanes

There were some really nice small country lanes, might have been difficult to navigate had I not had my GPS.  But this could be England couldn't it?  Oh no, of course not, it's warm and sunny.

Though I'm not exactly sure.  I know they had a really good bakery, and almost nothing else in the village.  If you hover your mouse over this picture you see a slightly closer shot.  Then if you click on the picture you see a view through that doorway, into the garden of a chambre d'hote.  Looks lovely.  I've got the phone number, 05 53 91 85 66, but I get more than one hit with that on Google, so perhaps it's an agent, or someone with more than one property.
