stairway to heaven

The rather cold (a keen and piercing wind is present) duo quit the mine buildings at the head of Glenridding (whence they have illicitly driven) and head for the hills.

catstye cam

Viewed from a frozen Glenridding Beck; a snowy Lower Man is to the right. By now I am too hot and Larry is streaming, the sun is bright and warm, yet we are clad for the penetrating winds of the shade below....

dam wall - keppel cove(ish)

I thought this was the scariest bit of the day, a few frozen patches, a lovely drop, and to top it all there is a big hole undermining it.....

sheffield pike

Looking North-East, with the dam wall we have just crossed in the left-hand corner; we are on the lower crunchy slopes of Catstye Cam, contemplating donning our crampons.

We have seen two walkers on the ridge from below and appear to be catching them....later we will find out why.....
